V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.
This saturday afternoon clothes swap is part of a series of events we are running for this years V Day. 90% of our proceeds from two stage performances (The Vagina Monologues and A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant And A Prayer - both Eve Ensler) will go to local NI charities Nexus and Womens Aid. The other 10% is in aid of the V Day spotlight campaign Stop Raping Our Greatest Resource - Power To The Women And Girls of DRC which seeks to address widespread sexual violence as part of armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This event will include an awareness raising presentation on the devastating problem of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
If you have some good quality clothes, shoes or accessories currently languishing in your wardrobe give them a new lease of life with a new owner and get yourself some lovely new stuff at the same time. We are working on a suggested donation basis for this event and encourage you to come along and give what you can, with your help we can make a real difference to the lives of women and girls suffering violence both at home and in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
If you dont have clothes to swap come on down anyway; we will have other bits and pieces on offer including makeovers, tarot readings and a caricaturist!
